Men’s Tudor Era Fashion

Now, we really have to talk about the shoes:
Authentic Tudor shoes look really goofy to our modern eyes! Hollywood just can’t bring itself to reproduce the Tudor shoe correctly.

The shoes were worn squared off at the toe–really square, and they, too, were slashed! Somebody was having way too much fun with the scissors! Frankly, it looks like they wore pastry turnovers on their feet. And, although we think boots are really cool these days, and most of the movies use them, at least for the heros, it is not correct. So, if you really want to be historically correct, you have to go with what the portraits shows–yes, geeky looking pastry feet!
